David was a Co-founder of the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators, Lead investigator on vehicle component failure for UK Forensic Science Service, Principal Consultant for TRL's Investigations Group and is now Founder and Managing Director of Forensic Accident Investigation Services.

During his career he's investigated vehicle component failure as part of some of the country's most high-profile incidents:

• He was an expert for Lord Steven’s enquiry into the death of Diana, Princess of Wales where he examined the Mercedes-Benz she was travelling in.
• Investigated the cause of the tyre failure on Richard Hammond’s jet dragster on BBCs Top Gear for the Health and Safety Executive
• Expert witness for the prosecution on the vehicles involved in the Selby rail crash
• Investigated the brake failure on the ‘Bath Tipper Lorry’ for Avon & Somerset Police

The results of his investigations have led to successful prosecutions, vehicle safety recalls, changes in motorsports regulations and even changes in the law relating to PSV tyres.

In his presentation David will look at what it is possible to discover by the forensic examination of components after a crash, and some tips on how to avoid one of your vehicles developing such a defect.
